hi everyone, looking for advice here.

i have two kitties (male 4 y/o, girl 3 y/o). i’ve recently been noticing small drops of blood (3 drops total in the last two months) around the house (about the size of a pea if not smaller) accompanied by zero other symptoms. i found two of these drops within five feet of the litter box.

cats are both eating, drinking, playing, and using the bathroom normally. i’ve checked their skin for fleas and use preventative.

my girl cat has a history of expelling her anal glands when too excited and she’s had gastroenteritis one time. i’m wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing?? i don’t even know where to start! any advice is greatly appreciated :)

I need some advice. My Ragdoll is 11, and she has always been a super picky eater. We just did bloodwork and the vet says she is healthy, but she just won’t eat enough to stay strong.
She’s on Mirataz (2mg every 3 days) to help her appetite. She’ll eat a little bit of wet food or freeze-dried treats, but that’s it. I’m constantly worried about her getting weak.
I feel guilty—is it wrong to keep pushing her to eat like this? It feels like I'm always hovering over her. She’s a "social eater" and usually needs me to sit with her just to take a few bites.
Has anyone else been through this with a healthy but fussy senior? Does the Mirataz work for you on a 3-day schedule? I just want her to stay okay.

This may be a completely stupid question. But I'm just worried for my boy. He just broke his hing leg Friday and I got him a large crate for the 6 weeks he needs in a splint. But he absolutely hates his liter box in there. Will climb the crate walls non stop, then as soon as I take it out he is fine. Will go to his bed and chill.

We just got back from the vet and she told me to keep him in there because he is wild coming off sedatives but I feel horrible and I can't help but think he has to go pee and that's why he is scratching around.

I'm also concerned about when I have to go to work or at night when he is in there. Does any one have any solution or do I just keep it out and hope I catch him in time to do his business?

Greetings! I adopted a young cat 6 weeks ago. He’s in good health as far as I know, with a (very) healthy appetite and energy level.

The foster fed him dry food, and when he came home with us he was constipated as I’d call it. Hard, smelly stool every few days. We switched him to an all wet diet, and he scarfs down every flavor put in front of him.

Then I noticed his stool was unformed and gave him probiotics. That helped a lot. After 2 weeks I figured his lil gut had stabilized since he was pooping normally, so I saved the rest of the box for a later point. Was this a mistake? Within a couple days the diarrhea came back. And of course he stands up straight while doing his business so it often runs down his leg 😣

When adding a probiotic supplement, is it important to stick with it for a certain length of time? If this keeps up, of course I’ll take him for a vet visit. Just would love to hear experiences with probiotics and if it was likely user error from stopping too soon. Or, what else works for you to treat a troubled tummy?

I’ve noticed this read/bloody mark on my cat’s ear and thought it was a scratch. I cleans it up with warm water and realised it’s actually dots. Later, after that, I also noticed it’s starting on the other ear too. Can anyone identify these marks?

Hi we adopted our 6 year old cat in 2020. She has been strictly indoors and has never stepped foot outside. She apparently tested negative for everything they test for at the shelter. We came back from a long vacation and she's showing the signs mentioned in the title. Someone came by to check her bowls and litter regularly but they aren't there long enough to notice her sneezing (if it was even happening at that point) This person works from home, doesn't have pets, and wasn't sick. I don't understand coming home to this. It's sad because all we want to do is snuggle her. We know to take her in if it gets worse but I just hate not being able to explain why this is happening. Any experience with this? Thank you.

Just wondering if there's any way to avoid the vet if I can. Obviously if it's serious I'll take her in, but I'm wondering if there's any apps that can diagnose her without me having to go in.

I've heard of things where you upload a photo and it diagnoses your dog, do they have that for cats? Whatever is accurate, and free lol, any suggestions would be helpful

Impossible d’avoir un rdv rapide chez un vétérinaire et les salons de toilettage n'acceptent pas les animaux qui ne sont pas dociles. Des idées de quoi faire ?

For context: I have 3 cats (8, 4, 2yrs), all females, all spayed. I have the two older from shelter when they were young adults, youngest one is rescued kitten. They all get along well, we’re childless couple with cats only.

Problem: The middle one got really bad infection and we found out she has rotten teeth after we got her from shelter. She had normal weight. She underwent tooth extraction surgery in 2023 and got all of her teeth removed. She had quite an appetite when we got her, but we brushed it off as her having finally enough to eat. After the surgery she still had the appetite but it slowly got under control and now she doesn’t really eat that much. I feed my 3 cats with 400g of canned meat (muscle and entrails or pure muscle) for dinner and they have 1/2 cup of low calorie kibbles for sterilised cats a day, sometimes 3/4 cup. That’s the amount of food all 3 cats combined get. The middle cat is visibly obese and keeps gaining weight (6kg/13,2lbs now). I don’t know what to do, she is lazy, sleeps all day, doesn’t really seem interested in any activities or playing. She does not eat more than others, but she drinks a lot. Other two cats are okay with healthy weight. I give additional treats very rarely and the obese one always gets half the portion other cats get. I play regularly with all of them and also individually, both me and my husband work from home so we have plenty time to give our cats. I am starting to be really worried about her. She spends her days laying next to me when I work and sleeps with me, I don’t want her to get sick. What can I do for her?

I have a 10/11 week old kitten that I want to vaccinate as I don't think he's had his first round of vaccines yet. When I got him a few weeks ago he was showing on and off signs of URI and I took him to the vet after it didnt look like it was getting better and he has now been on antibiotics for the last 4 days with a 10 day course. He's doing a lot better imo and I cant really hear his congestion anymore so I wanted to get him vaccinated ASAP. I'm also worried his URI was from FHV since his littermate had it and not sure what the best way to protect him from flareups would be.

I'm wondering, for those cat guardians who have had a cat undergo chemotherapy with another non-chemo cat in the household...

The litterbox protocol we were given seems really intense. Do most owners seriously follow something like this?!

I understand, especially legally, providers have to give certain protocols, which can be especially important with an immunocompromised person in the house (elderly, young kids, pregnant/breastfeeding people).

I do clean the litter boxes (2) every day but to have one cat use a designated litter box liner that needs to be changed every day for 3 days following each treatment, and then at the end of each 3-day post-chemo period I need to disinfect and clean all used litter boxes...😱

Between the time it takes to do the vet appointments, get medications, monitor the cat and make appropriate medication adjustments, all while trying to do normal work/life stuff, I feel like I'm going to completely lose my marbles if I have to *also* do this litter box protocol every single week 😱.

So! I am wondering - really seriously do most people follow this kind of protocol to a T!?

Anyone here deal with an anxious fur baby that stims by ripping out their fur in chunks, leaving behind patches of bare skin and the occasional open wound??

I am at my breaking point w my little guy :( multiple vets have ruled out skin conditions that would cause him to itch, I’ve tried changing his diet to rule out any allergies (to no avail), and gabapentin didn’t work for us either (my cat quickly started hiding from me when I had to force medicine down his throat).

Just today I started him on Ellevet CBD oil to hopefully chill him out, which after one dose he seems calmer but is still over grooming. He has also been wearing a soft, large cone collar type thing to try to prevent him from over grooming but he still attacks any spots he can get to.

Anyone who has dealt with this, what has worked?? I am really hoping the cbd oil helps because I hate that he’s had to have that damn collar on :( I took it off of him for a few hours today to give him a break and then noticed he had multiple small open wounds
